Towns in Pennsylvania Dutch Country

The Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish country and is comprised mostly of rural farmland. The major city in the area is Lancaster.  Hershey And efforts to are some of the larger towns.   the remainder of the town's are quaint, small villages some witheunusual names such as Intercourse or Bird-in-Hand.

  • Bird-in-hand is a small, unincorporated municipality along Route 340 (Old Philadelphia Pike)  just east of 896. It is located in East Lampeter Township Lancaster County, Zip Code 17505

Hershey is located at Routes 322 and 422. It is known for it's amusement park, Hotel Hershey, Zoo and other attractions especially those related to Hershey's Chocolate. You don't see a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch influence in Hershey. The town sprang up as the result of Milton Hershey looking for a location for his chocolate factory. He wanted the factory to be near good dairy lands to supply the needed milk. The Hotel Hershey is a beautiful historic hotel. It's a great place to stay or just visit for lunch or dinner. (Don't confuse the Hotel Hershey with the Hershey Lodge).

Lancaster is a small city in the heart of Lancaster County. The city contains a number of cultural attractions and museums as well as an amusement park. Farmer's Markets, golf, paintball, theater and wineries. Many of the area's major attractions such as the Strasburg Railroad are just minutes from Lancaster.
